Dear Piero,

I am the wife of Gerardo Bamonte, who if still alive would certainly have attended or sent her condolences. I worked for the League and knew you as I knew Verena and Gianni Tognoni in Rome and François Houtart also on the occasion of our common participation in the first Global Forum in Porto Alegre. I don’t think I knew Leo Matarasso personally, but I feel very much the passing of those who, like us, each in his own way and within our limits, took the defence of human rights to heart, still capable of to see in everyone the face of the same man.
